Blake Moret to deliver keynote on IIoT-enabled production in power generation

MILWAUKEE - Utilities face demands from consumers, regulators and policymakers for clean, reliable, distributed power at reasonable rates. At the same time, they must contend with increasing complexity of both power generation, and distribution operations and the technology used in their facilities just as the industry's most skilled workers start to retire. Blake Moret, president and CEO of Rockwell Automation, will address the impact of digital transformation in this landscape during the POWER-GEN International conference and exhibition in Las Vegas, Dec. 5-7.

Moret will be speaking during the Convergence and Collaboration keynote session at the Las Vegas Convention Center at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

'Throughout the last decade, power producers have been shifting toward digital operations, but the pace has been slow and uneven,' said Blake Moret. 'To those generators who haven't started your digital transformation, the time is now. At Rockwell Automation, we work across the power generation supply chain and at every phase of generation. We've seen our customers contend with aging infrastructure, workforce skills gaps and security concerns. We've also seen the impact when they choose to address these issues through standardized, modern control systems, IIoT technology and industry partners that can help them build a truly connected power plant. Those producers are reaping the rewards of a real-time production environment that is optimized and sustainable.'

POWER-GEN International attendees will be able to learn more about digital transformation and how to leverage the power of their production environment at Rockwell Automation Booth 9411. Rockwell Automation will offer displays and demos of how a modern distributed control system can create a single, open platform to operationalize production data and empower operators.

Booth visitors will see how a connected plant offers visibility to real-time production information for faster, better decision-making. This includes real-time comparisons of thermal plant heat rates for dispatching, as well as the ability to drill down into specific equipment health for maintenance to help optimize assets and maximize profitability. Additionally, expanded training and support services from Rockwell Automation will be on display that can help power producers address specific operational needs and skills shortages as they undergo a digital transformation.
