Rockwell Collins on November 19th became one of several aerospace and defense companies who were named winners in the 2014 Aviation Week Performance Excellence Awards. The company was honored in the Sub-System Sustainment Category for its work on the Boeing 767 Large Display System (LDS) program.

The award - presented during Aviation Week's annual Aerospace and Defense Programs Conference in Litchfield Park, Arizona - recognized Rockwell Collins' ability to significantly shorten the typical displays development program duration by about 50 percent in order to meet the customer's aggressive schedule.

"This was a unique program both in its speed to market and in our collaboration with Boeing," said Tori Wenger, principal program manager for the 767 LDS program at Rockwell Collins. "Of all of the innovative projects and programs that are run year-over-year, being singled out for an industry award is definitely an honor."

This year, Aviation Week considered 63 applications. Winners in seven categories were selected based on the program's value creation, best practices, risk management and metrics. The Rockwell Collins ARC-210 Tactical Secure Voice program was a finalist in the Sub-System Production category while the KC-10 Communication, Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) program was a finalist in the System Level Research and Development/SDD category.
