• Enables pre-screening of passengers and crew flying into Colombia

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (April 15, 2015) - Colombia's Department of Immigration has chosen Rockwell Collins' ARINC Border Management solution to improve immigration and border control at airports throughout the country. The agreement, which is the company's first in South America, will allow Colombian government officials to use Advanced Passenger Information (API) data to improve clearance, combat smuggling and fight illegal immigration at border control points. API data provides pre-arrival and departure information on all passengers and crew members.

Under the agreement, Rockwell Collins will serve as the exclusive API provider for the Colombian Department of Immigration for both commercial and business aviation. The initial implementation will focus on Rockwell Collins receiving the API data, validating that the message is complete and formatting the data from the 59 commercial airlines flying into and out of the country, with business aviation to follow.

Using the ARINC Border Management solution will enable Colombian officials to review passenger information before aircraft arrive at their destinations, giving them time to identify high risk individuals before they enter the country.

In addition to enhancing security, pre-clearance of passengers using ARINC Border Management improves passenger processing times at airports by eliminating lines at immigration checkpoints. The solution also provides data to assist governments with passenger verification and tourism analysis.

"Customs officials, immigration agencies, intelligence agencies and police departments are becoming increasingly aware of how this data can enhance national security," said Kenneth Schreder, managing director of Networks and Managed Services for Rockwell Collins. "Our ARINC Border Management solution gives government agencies the information they need in a format they can use."

Rockwell Collins is a leading provider of border management solutions in the world with systems deployed in Panama, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico and CARICOM, an organization of 15 Caribbean nations and dependencies.
