FARNBOROUGH, U.K. (July 15, 2014) - FT Sistemas has selected Rockwell Collins to provide its Micro Inertial Navigation Sensor (INS) for the Horus 100, a hand-launched UAV to be deployed by the Brazilian Armed Forces. Deliveries take place this year.

"We're proud to be part of such an important project, supporting a pioneer provider of unmanned aerial systems in Brazil," said Nelson Aquino, president of Rockwell Collins do Brasil. "We're confident FT Sistemas and the Brazilian Armed Forces will make the most of our state-of-the-art UAS technology into the Horus 100 platform."

The Micro INS is an advanced INS/GPS with an integrated air data system and magnetometer that offers complete and accurate platform state data. Weighing around 100 grams, the Micro INS incorporates an internal disk-on-chip for extended data logging, and meets demanding environmental requirements for shock, vibration, temperature and humidity. The Micro INS uses highly reliable micro electromechanical systems sensors, including accelerometers, rate gyros, magnetometer and air data pressure sensors, along with a differential ready, Wide Area Augmentation System-enabled GPS receiver.

"Our previous experience with Rockwell Collins has been very positive and we look forward to building this relationship in the future," said Nei Brasil, FT Sistemas co-founder and president. "Our customer will benefit greatly from the advanced technology and the local support that Rockwell Collins provides."
