Avionics magazine named Nan Mattai, senior vice
president, Engineering and Technology for Rockwell Collins,
as Woman of the Year for her leadership and dedication to
her job, as well as the aviation community.
Mattai, who joined Rockwell Collins as a software engineer
in August 1993, said she is "humbled" by the recognition
and hopes it serves as a model for other women.
"I'm all too aware that I travel in a rarefied crowd - a
woman, particularly a woman in an executive leadership role
- in the field of science and engineering," said Mattai. "I
take my responsibility to the industry, to women in the
industry and to the next generation of female engineers
very seriously."
Mattai will be recognized for her contributions to the
aviation world during the Women in Technology Awards
Luncheon on June 4, in Washington, D.C.
