Starnberg, Dezember 17th, 2014:

It's exactly 20 years since ROFIN showcased the Performance at Inhorgenta for the first time. The first manual laser welding system and the beginning of a completely new class of laser systems. ROFIN, the world leading laser manufacturer, continues to work intensively on the development of its laser systems for the jewelry industry. At Inhorgenta 2015 in Munich (Hall A2, booth 551), ROFIN will showcase the marking and engraving system EasyJewel with its new cutting option.

Perfect tools for precious pieces
"It's the whole package that makes the difference", states Ralf Sonnet; expert in laser material processing in the jewelry industry, he has been involved since day one of the introduction of laser technology within the industry. "Working with precious and often unique pieces is a goldsmith's daily routine so working with tools which provide maximum reliability and safety is essential. Just take ROFIN's ring marking module (RMM) in the EasyJewel as an example. With the clever ring clamping and the comfortable angle adjustment piece, handling is a breeze. The VLM marking software automatically deskews the marking content and presents all necessary information with the graphical user interface 'EasyGUI'. Only minimum input is required to set up the marking process in no time. That kind of elegant and smart solution you will find nowhere else."

Marking system EasyJewel cuts as well
At Inhorgenta 2015, ROFIN showcases the EasyJewel with the new cutting option for various types of metal sheets of up to 1.2 mm thick. The cutting process offers high precision and excellent cutting edge quality. Parts which had to be cut by hand can now be processed automatically. Now, not only does the laser engrave rings and other pieces inside, outside and on the front side, but also helps with various other tasks in jewelry production. The system can be used in multiple ways, reducing the amount of work which previously was done by hand and in turn allowing more time to be spent on challenging manual work.

Performance - cutting edge technology for the goldsmith's workshop
Meanwhile in its 7th generation, the Performance keeps setting the benchmark for the finest weldings in jewelry manufacturing and repair. Here, as well, the focus is on absolute reliability and maximum user friendliness. Proven and tested controls, like a large touch-screen, the dynamic foot switch and weld assist functions simplify everyday work. The patented SweetSpot resonator guarantees consistent weld quality and constant depth of focus from the first laser pulse. TrueView obviates any parallax misalignments and enables a 100% hit rate even when working out of focus. This is the only way to carry out difficult tasks like repair work on narrow channel settings, damaged chain links or worn out prongs, without touching the gemstones.

Close cooperation with jewelry designers
ROFIN works on the future development of its laser workstations in close cooperation with proven experts, like Tobias Teigelkötter, who also attended the debut of the Performance. Now, the owner of jewelry design shop 'Atelier Teigelkötter' is a pilot user and key provider of feedback and ideas. "Today, our ROFIN lasers complete a lot of work which used to be very time-consuming or wasn't feasible at all. The laser systems are running all day long and quite frequently we are pushing the limits of what is possible. This is where ideas for new laser applications or improved handling concepts evolve. With ROFIN as a partner, we have already developed quite a few of these improvement and they have become part of new hardware or software releases. In that way all users benefit from our expertise. This goes for me as well, I wouldn't be where I am today without partnering with the technology leader ROFIN."

From Germany to the whole world
ROFIN develops and produces the EasyJewel and Performance, as well as all other systems from its Laser-Tools series in Germany. Sales and support is carried out by more than two dozen specialized partners around the globe. Ralf Sonnet: "In 1992 we started thinking about manual welding lasers. Some 10 years later, lasers started to take over marking and engraving tasks. With the new cutting option, the EasyJewel is the first system to offer a compact solution for the cutting of smaller pieces all from a system. As you can see, jewelers can keep on looking forward to new laser solutions at any time."
