Rolls-Royce has announced that the Middle East Propulsion Company (MEPC) based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has joined the global T56 Authorised Military Overhaul Facility (AMOF) network.

Approval as a T56 AMOF follows completion of a three-year programme to establish repair and overhaul capability at MEPC's engine repair facility at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

The Royal Saudi Air Force operates one of the world's largest fleets of T56 powered C-130 military transport aircraft and certification of MEPC as a T56 AMOF will continue the process of increasing the level of industrial capability for support of Rolls-Roycesupplied equipment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Bob Stoddart, Rolls-Royce, President Customer Business - Defence, said: 'MEPC's qualification as a T56 AMOF is a sign of the strengthening relationship between our two companies which is central to our plans to support the continuing growth of industrial capability in Saudi Arabia.'

Abdullah Alomari, Chief Executive Officer of MEPC, said: 'MEPC is very proud to obtain this important certification which positions us as the first T56 engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in the Middle East and North Africa region. Our relationship with Rolls-Royceis based on strategic and long term cooperation, on the T56 and other Rolls-Royceengines. It also marks an important milestone in the expansion of our MRO capability, in which we have invested over SAR100 million to meet the demands of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council.
