Zwolle - 07 July 2016

A high level of contract quotes and projected forward order income in the pipeline are expected to drive growth at RoodMicrotec, the Dutch semiconductor supplier of advanced microchips, through to next year. Strong sales in the test engineering and qualification categories in the first-half of 2016 have set a stable base for the company's expansion in coming months, recently appointed CEO Martin Sallenhag said.

Martin Sallenhag, RoodMicrotec N.V. CEO said:  "RoodMicrotec is maintaining its current sales target for 2016, after the first-half figures were in line with the same period of 2015. I believe this sets a solid, stable, base for rising sales through 2017 as the company is in a good position to build on the high level of contract quotes and forward orders we're seeing coming through our books."

RoodMicrotec's sales in the automotive sector in particular are continuing to show positive development, with some orders being brought forward. The customer predictions for these projects also show larger volumes earlier in time.

The newly installed test equipment for more complex and advanced chips - a V93k mixed signal test system and a 12" wafer prober - have entered the engineering phase. This will contribute to the future revenue and ramp up to production in the next few months enabling us to support the growing conventional and electrical automotive markets as well as the industrial/IoT market.

Sales by business unit first half of 2016 compared to first half of 2015:

(x € 1,000)   HY1 2016   HY1 2015   change

Test   1,702   1,730   -2%
Supply Chain Management   926   1,198   -23%
Failure & Technology Analysis   751   846   -11%
Test Engineering   230   171   +35%
Qualification & Reliability Investigation   1,310   967   +36%
TOTAL   4,919   4,912   +0%

Supply Chain Management is still coming under pressure largely due to a delayed order by a Brazilian client stemming from the country's economic problems, but with the outlook for Brazil improving, RoodMicrotec expects this project to re-gather momentum in coming months. Previously announced orders in this category should also contribute to a recovery in sales growth.

Martin Sallenhag concluded: "RoodMicrotec is well-positioned to benefit from the rising demand for advanced microchips critical to communication in the expanding markets of the electrical automotive, industrial and medical sectors, which we expect to see feeding through into the company's sales over the next 18 months."
