During the first half of 2014 JSC Russian Grids group companies received 230,000 consumer requests for technological connection to electric power supply network totalling 17GW in capacity. 176,000 contracts were signed with a total capacity of more than 6GW.

The greatest number of consumers (131,000) to join the power supply network are private ones (capacity up to 15kW) The total number of concluded agreements stood at 139,000 in the first half of the year exceeding the showings of the same period of 2013 by 38%.

The Director of the Grid Connection and Perspective Development Department of JSC Russian Grids, Irina Masaleva noted that over 2,500 applications were made via the Internet. According to her, such a mode of submission makes it possible for consumers to save time. In addition, the applicant has the opportunity to receive information on the application status directly by using a personal account or e-mail. Also, a text messaging system is being introduced.
