Blackpool and South Shore Delivery Office and Poulton-Le-Fylde Delivery Office are merging and moving to a new site on Blackpool Technology Park

The move will take place on a phased basis with Poulton-Le-Fylde moving in early September 2015, followed by South Shore and Blackpool delivery office a few weeks later

We first announced our intention to relocate this office in November 2013. This move is driven by the changes in the mail we handle - with more parcels and fewer letters in our network

The new office details are: Blackpool & Poulton Delivery Office, Hawking Place, BLACKPOOL FY2 0XX*

The site provides a modern, purpose-built office for our people and offers better facilities for customers, including customer car parking

This move is part of our ongoing transformation and modernisation of our mail processing and delivery operations across the UK

We will make every effort to ensure this move goes smoothly for our customers, our people, and our business

Royal Mail's Blackpool and South Shore and Poulton-Le-Fylde delivery offices are moving to a new site on Blackpool Technology Park and we will start operating from the new site on a phased basis from Monday September 7, 2015.

We first announced our intention to relocate this office in November 2013. This move is driven by the changes in the mail we handle - with more parcels and fewer letters in our network.

The new office - Blackpool & Poulton Delivery Office, Hawking Place, BLACKPOOL - has been designed to a high specification to provide a modern, purpose-built facility for our customers and our people. The new customer service point will be open-plan, with screenless counters, to make it easier for our people to serve customers. We will also be using an improved system for recording and storing items awaiting collection, to make it easier and quicker to retrieve these for customers.

The new office will also have dedicated visitor car parking spaces for customers who visit the office to collect their mail. There is no dedicated customer parking at the existing delivery office site in Blackpool or in the surrounding residential streets.

The delivery offices are currently located in Abingdon Street, Blackpool FY1 1BB, which serves customers in the FY1-FY4 postcode areas and Cocker Avenue, Poulton-Le-Fylde FY6 8JJ, which serves the FY6 postcode area. The new site will serve all these postcode areas.

First to move to the new location will be the Poulton-Le-Fylde delivery office. Deliveries and mail collection services will continue from the existing site until close of business on Saturday September 5. From Monday September 7, mail awaiting collection by customers will be held at the new office. Details will be given on the "Something for You" card we leave for customers. We will also be writing to customers in the area to alert them of the move.

The enquiry office for customers for the South Shore and Blackpool delivery offices deliveries (FY1, FY2, FY3 and FY4) will open for customers to collect undelivered items from Monday October 5.

Royal Mail's Delivery Director for the North West, Adrian Fielding, said: "We have been searching for a more suitable site for our Blackpool delivery office for some time, as the current sites are no longer fit for purpose. The new proposed site is a modern, fit-for-purpose building, conveniently located for our processing operations at Preston Mail Centre.

"The move will give us the opportunity to modernise our delivery operations in Blackpool and Poulton-Le-Fylde and continue to provide a high quality service to our customers and is part of our investment in transforming our operations all over the UK.

"Our service to customers will continue to be a top priority and customers can be reassured that we will do all we can to minimise disruption and ensure we maintain the high level of service that they expect and deserve from Royal Mail."

Royal Mail makes every effort to deliver mail to customers first time. Customers do not need to travel to the new delivery office. Royal Mail can arrange a re-delivery free of charge on a daythat is convenient for customers, which includes Saturdays. This service can be arranged by calling the number on the card we leave or by visiting our website at www.royalmail.com

We can also deliver items to a different address within the same postcode area. Items can also be left with a neighbour or designated neighbour** if customers are not at home when we attempt delivery.

Alternatively, for those customers who wish to collect their undelivered mail, the proposal is to relocate the enquiry office to the new site, where dedicated customer parking is available. There is also a bus service that serves the new site.
