Royal Philips : Philips hosts a discussion on transforming health systems in emerging markets

At least 400 million people globally lack access to essential health services, according to the World Health Organization. For some 100 million people, accessing healthcare means being pushed below the poverty line into extreme poverty and debt due to out-of-pocket expenditure, exposing many to the risk of preventable death.

On the occasion of the World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington D.C., Philips will gather together influential stakeholders from the private and public sector to discuss how innovative business models, such as Managed Equipment Services, can strengthen health systems.

The aim of the evening is to define and agree on concrete actions to get better, bigger, faster initiatives to achieve universal health coverage by 2030. The discussion will address key elements: appropriate (financial) risk sharing to ensure sustainable transformation, investments in medical technologies and solutions, human resources and capacity constraints, and long-term-performance based contracts. The dinner will be hosted by Henk Siebren de Jong, Chief of International Markets at Philips. The discussion will be facilitated by Raj Kumar, President & Editor-in-Chief of Devex.
