• RWE: sharp increase in recharging trend
  • Drivers 'fill up' with energy for 42 million emission-free kilometres

Drivers of electric vehicles have now 'filled up' at RWE charging stations 700,000 times. By the end of this year, RWE forecasts one million charging sessions. Customers have powered their vehicles with enough energy for around 42 million kilometres of emission-free driving. This amounts to more than a hundred times the distance between Earth and the Moon.

Recently, there has been a sharp increase in the number of recharges through the RWE system. In the first half of the year alone, 70 per cent of the quantity of energy recharged in the previous year has already been 'refuelled'. The electricity station network now consists of 4,400 smart charging stations in Europe and in the USA.

The crucial factor behind the success of RWE's charging infrastructure is a highly reliable IT backend, which allows all of the charging stations to be linked together in an intelligent network. For energy providers, businesses and fleet operators, the system offers safe, efficient services. The IT services for e-mobility at RWE were assessed and certified by the TÜV-IT in 2014. The 'Security Qualification' award certifies that any information related to the charging process is safely generated and administered by the system and that efficient data protection is duly guaranteed. As has already been proven 700,000 times.
