• RWE's construction financing and project management know-how turned project into a commercially operational asset
  • Solar farm produces electricity for 10,000 homes and helps to avert 16,000 tons CO 2 per year

RWE Supply & Trading today announces the completion of the sale of the 37 MWp solar power plant at Kencot Hill to Foresight Solar Fund Limited, a LSE listed fund managed by Foresight Group. RWE provided the finance as well as project development and structuring skills during the construction phase.

RWE delivered to Foresight a substantial, fully commissioned solar PV park, built by solar construction specialist Conergy under an EPC turnkey contract. The solar park was successfully connected to the UK grid and accredited under the RO (Renewables Obligation) scheme in late 2014. Conergy will continue to operate and maintain the plant.

Built on a disused airfield at Kencot Hill, close to Burford in West Oxfordshire, the solar park is producing electricity to supply 10,000 homes in the local area. When compared to average conventionally generated electricity in the UK, Kencot Hill's electricity output will help to reduce CO2emissions by 16,000 tons per year.
