"We are very honoured to receive this award which we view
as a great vote of confidence", says Hans-Joachim Polk,
managing director of RWE Dea Norway. "RWE Dea has been
present in Norway for almost 40 years and we are now facing
a new exciting phase with the transition from a partner
role and operator in the exploration phase to becoming an
operator of fields in development and production. For the
future we will continue to rely on new ideas and new
employees so that we can further develop our
knowledge-based, innovative company", Polk continues.
The purpose of the German-Norwegian Business Award is to
honour companies who have distinguished themselves by
having innovative, forward thinking business ideas and who
also contribute to even better cooperation between
Norwegian and German businesses.
A total of 11 companies applied to the award which is being
handed out for the third year running. An independent and
well qualified jury picked three favourites and after an
online voting contest from May 1 to 15, RWE Dea was
selected as the winner with nearly half of the total number
of votes cast.
The jury says "RWE Dea has been active in Norway for a long
time and has focused on innovative and sustainable research
methods within the fields of geochemistry and microbiology
in the exploration of oil and gas. The participation in
four of the 20 largest discoveries on the Norwegian
Continental Shelf for the past five years is a clear result
of this. The company also promotes the exchange of
knowledge between Norway and Germany and is otherwise
engaged in cultural exchange."
The award, a purpose made sculpture by Berlin-based
Norwegian artist Knut Henrik Henriksen, was handed out at
the German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce's annual Summer
Party on May 31.
