SABMiller plc has appointed Trevor Manuel as an independent non-executive director with effect from 1 March 2015.

Mr Manuel was a minister in the South African government for more than 20 years. He was first appointed to Cabinet as Minister of Trade and Industry in May 1994, a portfolio he held for two years. In April 1996, he became Finance Minister, steering the South African economy for 13 years as one of the world's longest serving finance ministers. During his last term in office from May 2009 to May 2014, he served as Minister in the Presidency responsible for South Africa's National Planning Commission.

During his Ministerial career, Mr Manuel assumed a number of ex officio positions in international bodies, including the United Nations Commission for Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the World Bank, the IMF, the G20, the African Development Bank and the Southern African Development Community. He served two terms as Chairperson of the Development Committee of the World Bank.

Mr Manuel is currently Senior Advisor and Deputy Chairman of Rothschild South Africa where he has served on the board since 1 October 2014. He is co-chairman of the Green Climate Fund, non-executive director of the Global Green Growth Institute, climate change finance advisor to the United Nations and Chairman of the IMF's Development Committee.

He has a National Diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering from the Peninsula Technikon.

Trevor Manuel has been proposed by the Board of Directors of Swiss Re AG as a new member of the board for election at Swiss Re AG's Annual General Meeting on 21 April 2015. Swiss Re AG is a publicly quoted company whose shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. There is no information required to be disclosed pursuant to LR 9.6.13 (2) to (6) of the Listing Rules.
