The General Directorate of Road Maintenance in Mexico has awarded Sacyr Concesiones its first Public Private Partnership (PPP) project in the country: renovation, maintenance and conservation of a 91.5-km road between Pirámides, Tulancingo and Pachuca, worth €190 million (MXN 3,929 million).

The 10-year term project consists of the renovation, maintenance and conservation of two road sections: Pirámides - Tulancingo and Tulancingo - Pachuca, in the States of Mexico and Hidalgo. The road has an Average Daily Intensity (ADI) of 19,743 vehicles. The works that will be undertaken include asphalting, reinforcement of slopes, drainage and horizontal and vertical signage, among others.

The project is part of the National Infrastructure Program promoted by the President of the Republic, Enrique Peña Nieto. With this investment, Sacyr confirms its confidence in the country and in the structural reforms that have been achieved during the current six-year term.

First project for Sacyr Concesiones in Mexico

This is the first contract awarded to Sacyr Concesiones in Mexico, where Sacyr Construcción and Sacyr Industrial already have several projects underway, including the large foundation slab of the Land Transport Center of the New International Airport of Mexico City, the hospitals of Querétaro and Acuña, the first section of Line 3 of the Light Rail of Guadalajara and the electrical substations in the State of Puebla and Monterrey, among others.

Its entry into the Mexican concessions sector is part of the company's strategic plan, focusing on the development of projects on the American continent, showing a firm commitment to the development of infrastructures.

15 assets in Latin America

With this new project, Sacyr Concesiones consolidates and strengthens its presence in Latin America, where it already has 15 assets: six highways and a hospital in Chile; four highways in Colombia; a highway in Mexico; a highway in Peru; a corridor in Uruguay; and a corridor in Paraguay.

Sacyr Concesiones ranks sixth in the Public Works Financing (PWF) transport infrastructure concession managers ranking in the world, with 37 assets distributed in ten countries (Spain, Portugal, Chile, Colombia, Italy, Ireland, Peru, Mexico, Paraguay, and Uruguay) which include: highways (4,120 kilometers), transport interchanges, hospitals (2,263 beds).
