• The company is studying opportunities for concessions in the UK and tendering for the construction of a motorway in Rotterdam (Netherlands). .

Sacyr has opened a London office that will be tasked with spurring the company's growth both in the United Kingdom as well as in new markets on the Old Continent. The London office is close to the centrally located Victoria Station.

The office is being opened in response to Sacyr's strategy to increase its presence in the concessions sector in Europe beyond its three traditional markets: Spain, Portugal, Ireland and Italy. The company's primary targets are the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

In the United Kingdom, Sacyr is already studying several concession projects in the hospital area and in the motorways sector. As for the Netherlands, Sacyr Concesiones is among the companies that are the finalists for the A16 motorway in Rotterdam. The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment chose three consortia for the last phase, which will culminate foreseeably in February 2018 with the presentation of the final offer. Sacyr is tendering for the A16 motorway together with the local company Strukton while competing with two other Dutch companies.

International Trade Secretary Dr Liam Fox said:

'As an international economic department over the past twelve months we've helped secure more foreign direct investment projects than ever before, supported thousands of UK businesses on their export journey, and continue to promote British trade values across the world. 'Today's announcement by Sacyr to build their European offices here in London, affirms this city's status as a top commercial centre and the attraction of doing business in Britain. I look forward to welcoming more investment decisions as we leave the EU and build positive new partnerships with Spain and the other member states'.

Sacyr, a global company

The new London office is in response to the growing internationalization of Sacyr, which is present in 30 countries on the five continents. The company earned 55% of its business revenue outside of Spain during the first quarter of 2017, seven percentage points more than during the same period of the previous year. In addition, 58% of the backlog of future income, €16.412 billion, is international. Sacyr Concesiones is the sixth company worldwide in infrastructure development and currently has a backlog of 37 assets, distributed among Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay and Paraguay. In recent weeks, the company has achieved a highway concession in Mexico, the first in the country, and has signed its fourth Fourth-Generation motorway in Colombia, the Cúcuta-Pamplona.
