LAUREL, Miss. - September 18, 2015 - Vania Nelson has recently been named Translation and Interpreting Services Manager at Sanderson Farms, Inc. As Translation and Interpreting Services Manager, Vania will be responsible for the translation of all company correspondence from the English language into other languages. She will also monitor company linguistic demographics in order to identify and assess Sanderson Farms' translation and interpretation needs.

A native of Puerto Rico, Vania is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design. She also holds a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Adult Education in Spanish and English as a Second Language from the University of New Orleans.

Prior to her promotion, Vania served as the company's Corporate Translator for six years. She began her career with Sanderson Farms in February 2007 as a Beginning Trainee. Before joining Sanderson Farms, Vania worked as an instructor for Delgado Community College in New Orleans, Louisiana and Nunez Community College in Chalmette, Louisiana, where she taught Spanish and English as a Second Language, designed curriculum and assessed students' performance.

As Corporate Translator for Sanderson Farms, Vania translated training material and delivered training to hourly and salaried employees across the five states and 13 different cities in which the company operates. She also served as a translator and interpreter for all of the company's poultry processing and production facilities. In addition to assisting with Spanish training and interpretation needs, Vania worked with many internal departments to translate legal documents, memorandums, manuals, articles, e-mails, phone calls and various other forms of employee correspondence.

After relocating from New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Vania and her husband Milo now reside in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with her stepson Brandon and mother-in-law Betty. Vania is an animal lover and enjoys contributing to her local animal shelter. In her spare time, Vania likes spending time with her family and friends, as well as making jewelry and various other arts and crafts.
