Hang Seng Index Compiler: To Add Sands China To Blue-Chip Index

Macau casino operator Sands China Ltd. (1928.HK) will join Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index, the index compiler said Thursday after its latest quarterly review.
It said the total number of constituents in the benchmark index will rise to 49 from 48 following the addition of the local unit of U.S.-based Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS).
In addition, the index compiler said it will add New China Life Insurance Co. (1336.HK) to the China Enterprises Index, which tracks the movement of China-registered companies listed in Hong Kong. At the same time, the compiler plans to remove China Railway Construction Corp. (1186.HK) from the China Enterprises Index, keeping the number of companies in the index at 40.
All changes will take effect June 4, the statement said.
