Santarus, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNTS) today announced that data from its Phase I clinical study with its investigational drug SAN-300, a novel antibody that inhibits very late antigen-1 (VLA-1; ?1?1 integrin), will be featured in a poster presentation at the 2013 American College of Rheumatology. Based on the Phase I study results, Santarus is preparing to initiate a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, multiple ascending dose, Phase IIa clinical study with subcutaneous administration of SAN-300 in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The company expects to initiate the Phase IIa study in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The poster (#1439) is titled, Safety, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of SAN-300, a Novel Monoclonal Antibody Against Very Late Antigen-1: Results of a Phase I Study in Healthy Volunteers and Patients with Active Rheumatoid Arthritis, and will be exhibited on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time at the San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B2-C-D.
