SAP : openSAP Reaches 2 Million Course Enrollments, Seeks to Broaden Reach Through Course Translations

WALLDORF - SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced that its openSAP platform, an online learning platform and provider of massive open online courses (MOOCs), has reached 2 million course enrollments with its community of over 500,000 learners.

This milestone comes on the heels of the four-year anniversary of the platform's first course, which was released in May 2013. Hosted and run by the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), openSAP was recognized for its momentum during the Sharing Knowledge, Creating Visions conference held by HPI in New York City on June 20, 2017.

The openSAP platform gives professional and student learners a collaborative, online learning experience through enablement tools for peer assessment and group work, as well as direct access to SAP experts. For additional flexibility, the platform is available anytime, anywhere and on any device through a mobile-enabled Web site and Android and iPad mobile apps. In a recent survey of learners who use openSAP, 98 percent of respondents said that they were satisfied or very satisfied with the overall learning experience openSAP provides, and noted they planned to enroll in additional courses.

To provide the community of learners with the most personalized learning experience possible, openSAP plans to use machine learning to offer course translations through transcript and subtitles, as announced during the SAPPHIRE NOW conference held in May this year. In addition to machine learning, openSAP will pilot blockchain technology to produce records of achievement during the current course, Touch IoT with SAP Leonardo, using the TrueRec solution by SAP. The TrueRec solution enables 'true recognition' for education and HR organizations, allowing them to issue, share and verify digital credentials without the need to reach out to a central authority.

Since the release of its first course, 'Introduction to Software Development on SAP HANA,' openSAP has continued to deliver free online courses addressing the latest topics in SAP innovation. These include SAP S/4HANA Cloud, the SAP Fiori user experience, and most recently, the SAP Leonardo portfolio. This continuous improvement earned the openSAP platform the Brandon Hall gold award in the category 'best extended enterprise learning program' in 2014, the Innovation in Learning bronze award from the Learning and Performance Institute in 2014, the gold award for Best Innovative Corporate University from Global Council of Corporate University in 2015 and the 'Germany - Land of Ideas' award in the 'society' category in 2016.
