He steps into the role having held various leadership positions since 1997 at Concur Technologies, including serving as Concur's chief product officer since 2014.

'This newly created position highlights the importance of small and midsize businesses to SAP,' said Steve Singh, member of the Executive Board of SAP SE. 'Padgett brings the perfect combination of enterprise expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to the role, and I couldn't be happier that he will be leading this new team toward our goal of being the market-leading provider of commerce, financial and ERP services to SMBs.'

Technology advancements, globalization and changing customer expectations have altered the way small and midsize businesses (SMBs) need to operate and compete. SAP has combined the teams for the SAP Business One application, the SAP Anywhere solution and the SAP Business ByDesign solution into one organization to more effectively focus on building complete, best-in-class front-office and back-office solutions that serve the unique needs of today's SMBs.

During his time at Concur, Padgett held a variety of roles across the globe, including executive vice president and general manager, EMEA; vice president, International Sales and Marketing; director of Concur's Asia Pacific region; director of Consulting Services; and director of Business Development. He helped pioneer Web-based expense reporting services, launched the end-to-end process of connecting online travel booking and expense reporting, and ran the TripIt business. As chief product officer, Padgett was responsible for the strategy for and delivery of all Concur's products and platform. He brings to his new role a deep understanding of best practices for building and delivering solutions to the SMB segment.

'With customers increasingly expecting real-time service from all companies, regardless of size, SMB business owners need to respond, without having large, internal IT organizations to support their efforts,' said Padgett. 'I'm very excited to help drive this new organization focused on meeting the needs of SMBs with front-office and back-office solutions designed specifically for them.'

EJ Jackson, head of SAP Anywhere, Luis Murguia, head of SAP Business One, Michael Schmitt, head of SAP Business ByDesign, and Rob Chu, global head of SMB development and support, and their teams will report to Padgett in his new, dedicated SMB leadership position.
