Savills, on behalf of a private client, has sold Windwhistle Golf Club in Cricket St. Thomas, Somerset to local businessman, Mr Steve Hill.

The 18-hole, par 70 golf course is set within 107 acres (43 hectares) and includes an open driving range, putting green and a clubhouse extending to 10,355 sq ft (962 sq m). Originally opened in 1932, Windwhistle is located in South Somerset between Chard and Crewkerne, adjoining the A30. Planning permission exists for 47 units of self-contained accommodation and two additional squash courts.

Kay Griffiths, associate in the hotels and leisure services team at Savills, comments: "We are delighted with the sale of Windwhistle to Mr Hill, ensuring the ongoing operation of this established course, which benefits from a strong location in the South West and superb views across the Somerset Levels."
Mr Steve Hill adds: "I have been a member at Windwhistle for many years and having seen the return to agricultural use of many local golf courses I was determined for Windwhistle to continue and make it a premier golfing destination. Changes have already begun with a rebranding to Cricket St. Thomas Golf Club, which signifies a fresh start for the club, plus the appointment of PGA Professional Mr Paul Deeprose as the new General Manager."
