International real estate advisor Savills, on behalf of a private client, has sold the Grade II listed Dunster Castle Hotel in Dunster, Somerset to Lisa and John Richardson from a guide price of £850,000.

The new owners are a family business and previously ran a successful venture in West Wales. Their plans for Dunster Castle Hotel include transforming the 'Great Room' into a premier wedding and function venue as well as creating a traditional restaurant with grand piano, cocktail bar and snug bar. The eight bedrooms will also be refreshed while the garden will be developed into an area for relaxing outdoors.

Martin Rogers, head of UK hotel transactions at Savills, comments: 'This successful hotel close to Exmoor National Park attracted significant market interest. We are pleased with the strong sale price achieved on behalf of our client.'
