Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) has finalized a lease that will move its headquarters operation from the grounds of Reagan National Airport to USAA's building located at Two Potomac Yards 2733 Crystal Dr. in Crystal City, VA. As advisors to MWAA, Savills Studley managed the process, from inception to lease execution and will be overseeing the construction of the premises. MWAA plans to occupy its new facilities in the spring of 2017 to clear the way for a terminal construction project to proceed on the site of its current headquarters building.

MWAA will occupy a 74,248-square-foot space on three floors in the building. The location of USAA's building in Crystal City offers the advantages of institutional ownership, proximity to and views of Reagan National Airport, large efficient floors and a LEED certified, energy efficient building.

'There were many viable options available in the Crystal City area,' said Wendy Feldman Block, Senior Managing Director, Savills Studley. 'MWAA was fortunate to have secured a long term lease in a high quality yet affordable building owned and operated by USAA, a strong financial institution.'

The Savills Studley team included Bill Quinby, Executive Vice President and Co-Regional Manager of the Washington, DC region; Wendy Feldman Block, Senior Managing Director; David Cornbrooks, Assistant Director; and Dave Simmons, Director of Project Management. Carol Honigberg and Jennifer Cuddy of Reed Smith provided legal representation to MWAA. OPX is providing design services for the project. USAA was represented in the transaction by Malcolm Schweiker, Greg Carpentier and Erik McLaughlin of CBRE.
