April 19, 2017, Moscow - In Sberbank Online the maximum amount of payments and money transfers between client accounts without confirmation at the call centre has risen from 100,000 to 500,000 roubles per day.

This increase is due to the launch of the monitoring system and other cybersecurity technologies, which let the bank effectively identify and prevent fraud in digital channels. This system analyses non-standard client behaviour on the basis of hundreds of parameters and identifies suspicious operations using machine learning algorithms. Non-standard operations are blocked and require confirmation at the call centre.

Clients who make payments and money transfers in Sberbank Online may lower the upper limit for the online bank and mobile application. This can be done by entering the Settings section of the web version of Sberbank Online and setting the necessary daily operation limit.

"Fraudulent attacks in the digital environment are mostly conducted with the help of social engineering methods: criminals deceive clients and gain access to their accounts. The security system lets us track this sort of fraud, too," said Sergey Lebed, Head of Sberbank's Information Security Service.

"Payments and money transfers are the most popular functions offered by Sberbank Online. More than 37 million users of digital banking can use these functions in a less restricted and secure way now, without having to go to the bank's offices," said Svyatoslav Ostrovsky, Head of Sberbank's Bank XXI Department.

The number of money transfers between clients that exceed 100,000 roubles doubled in Sberbank Online within the period of the gradual increase of the upper limit.
