Release of Medical Light Source "Bicolor LED Light Source Aladuck LS-DLED"

SBI Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Yoshitaka Kitao; "SBI Pharmaceuticals"), a subsidiary of SBI Holdings, Inc. (SBIH), engages in research and development of pharmaceuticals, health foods and cosmetics using 5-aminolevulinic acid ("5-ALA")*1. SBI Pharmaceuticals will begin selling the bicolor medical LED light source Aladuck LS-DLED (hereinafter referred to as the "device") today.
The device (see photo on the lower right) is a medical light source that is available for use in various operation sites, for instance, by connecting it to a rigid endoscope. It has become common practice in clinical sites these days to use white light close to natural light in the operative field. This device is provided with functions that enable it to mix white light with purple light, allowing a wide range of light sources to be used.
The device is the first medical one we have commercially released, and we are committed to advancing research and development in this field so that we will be needed in clinical sites and be able to contribute to people's healthy and affluent lives.

*1: 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA): An amino acid created in mitochondria. It is an important substance that serves as protein material related to energy production in the form of hemes and cytochromes, and its productivity is known to decrease with age. 5-ALA is contained in shochu distillation remnants, red wine and food such as radish sprouts. It is also known as a material forming chloroplasts in plants.
