Who is PageUp?

PageUp is an Australian company that provides human resources software systems. They are one of the largest recruitment system providers in Australia. Scentre Group uses PageUp to support our talent recruitment activities.

What's the issue?

PageUp communicated to its customers that 'On May 23, 2018, PageUp detected unusual activity on its IT infrastructure and immediately launched a forensic investigation. On May 28, 2018 our investigations revealed that we have some indicators that client data may have been compromised, a forensic investigation with assistance from an independent 3rd party is currently ongoing.'

Who may be impacted?

To be clear, there's no indication that any Scentre Group applicants have been impacted by this incident. If you've uploaded your resume to Scentre Group via our online form between October 2017 - June 6 2018, we recommend you check that there's been no recent unusual activity concerning your personal information. The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) provides guidance to individuals affected by a data breach.

What action has Scentre Group taken?

- Upon being made aware of the issue, we've immediately ceased using PageUp's systems to process job applications. All data links between Scentre Group and PageUp have been severed.

- We've contacted PageUp with a series of specific questions surrounding the privacy impact of this incident to Scentre Group and our applicants

- We've undertaken a thorough investigation of our own software systems and have not identified any suspicious activity.

What steps have been taken to secure my data?

We have ceased using the PageUp system, and we continue to liaise with PageUp regarding their security response.

From June 6, we've implemented a new talent recruitment process - separate to PageUp's system - to ensure we can securely protect applicants' information.
