Services merge into delivery platform to offer new solution
for stimulation applications
HOUSTON, June 5, 2012-Schlumberger today introduced the
SPARK* stimulation technology delivery platform. Through
collaboration with customers, the platform merges
Schlumberger stimulation technology, chemistry and
exclusive techniques to provide a new solution to address
stimulation needs.
"We are supporting our customers by coupling our
proprietary fluid systems, blending equipment and
engineering expertise with non-Schlumberger pumping units,"
said Dominique Malard, president, Schlumberger Well
Services. "This initiative will leverage high-pressure
pumping equipment provided by third-party services-whether
vertically integrated customers or service contractors-to
offer new options for stimulation applications."
The SPARK stimulation technology delivery platform includes
HiWAY* flow-channel hydraulic fracturing service to create
infinite-conductivity channels for hydrocarbon flow,
OpenFRAC* family fluid additive systems to provide high
performance with full disclosure, and ClearFRAC*
polymer-free fracturing fluid for greater fracturing
efficiency with less reservoir damage when compared to
conventional systems.
One south Texas customer, working in the Eagle Ford
formation, sought to increase operational efficiency in an
area where some operations have shifted from conventional
slickwater hydraulic fracture fluids treatments to
engineered solutions. However, the customer already owned a
frac fleet and did not want to have crews and high-pressure
equipment sitting idle. With the SPARK platform, the
customer used their own frac crews in conjunction with the
HiWAY channel-fracturing service. On average, HiWAY service
has helped Eagle Ford customers increase production by more
than 20% while reducing water usage by 25% and proppant
consumption by 42%.
Additional services, including cementing, are being
developed as part of the SPARK technology delivery
platform.www.slb.com/SPARK.
