New York, NY - September 17, 2014 - Scholastic (NASDAQ: SCHL), the global children's publishing, education and media company, today announced the appointment of Andy Yablin as Vice President, Transportation. As the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books, Scholastic distributes more than 350 million books annually, exporting materials in 45 languages to more than 150 countries, and delivering nearly 130,000 school-based book fairs. In this newly created position, Mr. Yablin will plan, develop, and execute global transportation strategy for Scholastic, ensuring that all transportation partnerships, programs, processes, services, and metrics meet the Company's strategic supply chain requirements-both current and future-as well as its broader objectives. Mr. Yablin will oversee the Transportation team, working closely with them to collaborate on a cross-divisional sharing of transportation best practices that drive business results.

"Andy brings the perfect combination of experience and leadership to the Transportation team," said Heath Garvin, Senior Vice President, Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Inventory Strategy. "Scholastic must deliver our books and materials to educator, parent and child customers with the highest level of coordination and efficiency. I am confident that Andy will be successful in managing the Company's transportation needs to ensure that more books get into the hands of children all over the world."

Mr. Yablin originally joined Scholastic in 2002 as Vice President, Global Logistics and Distribution. From 2002-2008, he worked to centralize the Company's global supply chain process and significantly lower total Company-wide costs. Most recently, Andy held the title of Senior Vice President of Logistics at C&S Wholesale Grocers, where, since 2009, he was responsible for the management of more than 35,000 grocery store deliveries covering 3.2 million miles on a weekly basis. He also worked in transportation and operations for Pepsi Bottling Group and ExxonMobile Corporation.

Andy earned his B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Physical Distribution and Logistics from Northeastern University and an M.S. in Management from Lesley University.
