Following the promotion of Simon Pearson to Head of Global Markets, SCOR Global Life announces three new appointments:

  • Miguel Alferieff is promoted to CEO of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, reporting to Simon Pearson
  • Roy Chappell is promoted to Deputy CEO of EMEA, reporting to Miguel Alferieff. Roy maintains his current responsibilities for the UK, Nordic and South African markets.
  • Pilar Santamaria is promoted to Head of Central, Eastern, Southern Europe and Middle East, reporting to Miguel Alferieff

Simon Pearson, Head of Global Markets and Deputy CEO of SCOR Global Life, comments: 'Miguel, Roy and Pilar have demonstrated over the years their continuous dedication to our clients and their deep knowledge and understanding of their needs. Miguel Alferieff is promoted to CEO of EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) for SCOR Global Life. Based in Madrid, Miguel will be responsible for all Life & Health Reinsurance Solutions in the EMEA region. Miguel Alferieff, a Spanish Citizen, holds a Bachelor's degree of Science in Economics from the University CEU San Pablo of Madrid, MBA from CHEA ENASS and MBA from IESE Business School. Miguel started his career at SCOR Global Life in 1992 and has held various market and business responsibilities in Madrid and Paris. From 2007 to 2011 he led the Life reinsurance activities in Spain & Portugal, became Head of Southern Europe and Middle East in 2011 and Head of Central, Southern, Eastern Europe and Middle East, as well as Deputy CEO of EMEA in 2014.

Roy Chappell is promoted to Deputy CEO of EMEA for SCOR Global Life. Based in London, Roy will remain as CEO for the SCOR Global Life UK Branch and also as Head of Northern Europe and South Africa. Roy Chappell, a British citizen, holds a Bachelor degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Sussex. Roy started his career at Colonial Mutual as a Life Product and Marketing Manager. He joined SCOR in 2000 as Business Development Manager for the UK and Irish markets and became CEO of the SCOR Global Life UK branch in 2010, before becoming Head of Northern Europe and South Africa in 2014.

Pilar Santamaria is promoted to Head of Central, Southern, Eastern Europe and Middle East. Based in Madrid, Pilar will be responsible for the Life & Health Reinsurance Solutions in the region. Pilar Santamaria, a Spanish citizen, holds an Executive MBA by IESE, has a Bachelor of Actuarial and Financial Studies and a degree in Business Management and Administration, both by Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE).

Pilar started her career as pricing actuary in Gerling in 2000 and later as Marketing Actuary in the Spanish branch of Revios, which was acquired by SCOR in 2006. She became Technical and Marketing Manager for the Spanish & Portuguese markets. In 2012 she was promoted to Head of Iberia, responsible for all Life & Health Reinsurance Solutions in the Spanish & Portuguese markets. Pilar is a fully qualified member of the Spanish Institute of Actuaries.
