Ashley King received a special surprise after Sunday night dinner when HGTV’s Tiffany Brooks showed up at her parents’ home to hand her the keys to the luxuriously furnished high-tech HGTV® Smart Home, an all-new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid and a $100,000 cash prize provided by national mortgage lender Quicken Loans.

King currently lives with her parents and is preparing to attend graduate school at DePaul University to pursue a master’s degree in digital communication. Her father, Reverend Claude King, kept the secret from King and her mother Denise last week in order to surprise the new homeowner.

“When you enter these contests, for me at least, you don’t think much of it because you know it’s one of those one in a million chances and you never really think it is going to happen to you,” said King. “I’m still shocked. I didn’t realize how big this would be and I don’t know when this surprised feeling will subside.”

King also noted that her brother recently gave her a 16-year-old vehicle that needed a lot of repairs, so she definitely can use the new car. She said she looks on the grand prize as a gift to her entire family, which will have a positive impact on their lives.
