As senior vice president of multi-platform distribution and strategy, Deen will be responsible for digital distribution activities for the company, a leader in developing lifestyle programming for television, the Internet and mobile platforms. The company owns and operates HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, DIY Network, Cooking Channel and Great American Country.

Deen will engage with emerging video distribution providers as well as fulfill the growing demand for lifestyle video content on new services being developed by incumbent cable, satellite and telecommunications video distributors.

Deen, whose appointment is effective immediately, will report to Henry Ahn, executive vice president of content distribution and marketing.

“Scripps Networks Interactive is making it a priority to deliver its popular, high quality lifestyle video content to media consumers via whatever platform or service they choose,” Ahn said. “That includes working closely with incumbent distribution partners as they bring their TV Everywhere services rapidly to market, as well as exploring new distribution relationships. Sameer is one of our most forward-thinking executives. His extensive experience across the purview of our rapidly evolving media landscape will help keep us at the forefront of the growing array of digital distribution partnership and revenue possibilities.”

Deen has held various management roles in new media, corporate development and distribution, and consistently pulled multiple facets together to achieve success. During his time with Scripps Networks Interactive, he’s served as founder and president of CityEats, a digital business the company recently sold; the head of the corporate development group; and as a key leader in the digital group. He’s been influential in many strategic expansions for the company including its international, digital and distribution businesses.

Prior to Scripps Networks, Deen held positions with The E.W. Scripps Company, NBC Universal, GovWorks.com and Lehman Brothers. Deen was recently honored by the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications with its prestigious Luminary award, and in 2011 he was named to CableFAX’s “Most Influential Minorities in Cable” list. He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce, with distinction, from McGill University in Montreal.
