Isabel Villarreal headed to dinner to meet friends, but found a new friend and a big surprise waiting for her. HGTV’s Tiffany Brooks showed up to hand her the keys to the HGTV® Smart Home in Austin’s historic Zilker Park neighborhood, a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and a $100,000 cash prize provided by national mortgage lender Quicken Loans.

HGTV's Tiffany Brooks surprised Harlingen, Texas resident Isabel Villarreal with the news that she won the HGTV Smart Home 2015 in Austin. Villarreal currently lives in Harlingen, Texas. You might say, however, that she’ll be coming home, as she was born not far away from the HGTV Smart Home 2015. With family in Austin and a love for the city, Villarreal had a special interest in entering to win this home and entered twice daily, every day.

“I watched the home from the time the location was announced through the very end. I read about saving the trees, the construction and watched the designs for every room,” said Villarreal. “The home is beautiful – so much more than I could ever imagine, especially all the smart things that it can do.

This lucky winner was selected from more than 40 million entries for the HGTV Smart Home 2015. The two-level modern farmhouse is approximately 2,300 square feet, with three bedrooms and three baths, featuring innovative solutions to give the homeowner better control over energy use, security, interior climate and lighting. Constructed by Austin builder, Riverside Homes, the HGTV Smart Home 2015 features an open-concept living and kitchen space surrounded by windows outfitted with tech-smart features to block sunlight and UV treated to reduce heat while providing welcomed natural light.

The home has multiple outdoor areas, including a screened-in porch and an outdoor dining area with a barbeque connected by large sliding doors that can remain open much of the year adding living area to an open floor plan and its sense of space.
