SDL (LSE: SDL) today announced five key hires to its North America Language Solutions team to enhance the strategic and operational leadership of the group responsible for delivering global brands language and translation support throughout the customer journey. Industry veterans Kaarin Gordon, VP of Life Sciences, and Paul Barth, VP of Sales for Language Technology, are joined by former SDL customers Jessica Roland, Alison Toon and Peter Coleman – all serving as Strategic Account Directors – to support SDL’s delivery of a seamless global customer experience (CX) across industries.

Gordon joins SDL as VP of Life Sciences, supporting the company’s commitment to accelerated growth of its Life Sciences practice area. Gordon brings 15 years of experience in addressing the unique language and translation needs of Life Sciences companies. Prior to SDL, Gordon spent nearly 10 years at Lionbridge acting as their Vice President of Life Sciences, where she was responsible for building, leading and managing their Life Sciences practice. Before that, she spent eight years at RR Donnelley where she helped navigate the international regulation and compliance challenges for healthcare companies.

Barth has joined SDL as the company’s new VP of Sales for Language Technology. With more than 20 years of sales and executive sales management experience, Barth has held leadership roles for companies including MarkLogic and Lionbridge with experience in both software product sales and services solutions. In his role at SDL, he is tasked with helping customers experience increased value from their investment in Language Technology, as well as the increased efficiency and cost savings of integrating Language Technology with SDL’s Customer Experience Cloud.

SDL’s new Strategic Account Directors have been active in localization associations including TAUS, LISA and Women in Localization. Their knowledge and hands-on experience with localization trends and techniques is unmatched, and they are dramatically improving SDL’s ability to provide strategic guidance, support and satisfaction to customers.

Roland has over 15 years of localization and international product management leadership experience, both in the enterprise software world with Documentum and EMC, and with web companies such as Yahoo!, Glassdoor and, most recently, Gengo.

Toon brings a passion for and nearly 25 years of experience in managing complex translation and globalization projects. Prior to SDL, she worked as Senior Director of New Markets at Smartling, running partner programs. Toon also spent more than 22 years at HP, most recently operating as Globalization Manager. She was responsible for the management of translation and localization tools, processes, architecture and operation for content management and ebusiness services across the enterprise. Prior to HP, Toon was a Documentation Consultant for Philips.

Also joining SDL from HP, Coleman brings deep expertise in localization, international marketing and digital content/asset management to his role. With nearly 20 years of industry experience, Coleman previously held globalization and marketing management roles at HP and prior to that served in Marketing and Operations at AUTOVIA.
