ATA e-Business Forum and S1000D User Forum -- SDL (LSE: SDL) today announced that it will unveil a new service offering, the SDL S1000D Foundation Suite, at the ATA e-Business Forum and S1000D User Forum, June 23-25, 2014 in San Antonio, TX. This offering is designed for customers implementing a new project or converting a legacy project to S1000D Issue 4.0.1. The planning, analysis, and design services in this package will help new adopters of S1000D Issue 4.0.1 and identify how to start up an S1000D project to establish business rules, implement business rule decisions within a new project and create the first set of data modules and related support content for the new project. SDL executives will also be presenting multiple sessions at the event that focus on S1000D use cases to improve implementation.

S1000D User Forum Track: Implementing S1000D Best Business Practices Means Understanding Your Business Better

When:

Tuesday, June 24, 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. CST

Speaker:

Mike Cook, S1000D Business Analyst, SDL

What:

This session will explore S1000D use cases – whether you are starting from scratch or an experienced user, there are areas for improvement in how you use it. Getting each feature of the specification to work is going to cost you something. It generally takes money and time - not something we all have in abundance at the beginning of a project and harder to come by later when we hit sustaining mode. And, depending on how you implement your project, this can be hard to adjust down the road if you made marginal choices in your business rules. Understanding your business is the key to augmenting your use of the specification. This session examines where you can take advantage of some features of the specification you may not have been aware of and what you should be looking at to help you with future growth.

S1000D User Forum Track Rationalization, Reduction and Centralization

When:

Tuesday, June 24, 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. CST

Speaker:

Louis Luppa, VP, Strategic Business Development, SDL and Ron Stonecypher, Naval Surface Warfare Center

What:

We hear stories every day about defense spending cuts and the potential impact on US defenses. War fighters must complete their mission even in a tight budget environment. Using the US Navy's Rationalization, Reduction and Centralization Strategy as an example, this session will explain this continuous improvement strategy and the benefits realized. Especially in today's fiscal environment, all US government agencies can learn by this example of US Navy leadership on how to execute their continued improvement strategy in a tight budget environment.

SDL will also demo its SDL LiveContent IETP on Wednesday, June 25 at 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. CST. This demo will highlight support for S1000D issues 2.3 through issue 4.1. SDL LiveContent IETP enables organizations’ programs to mix and match different issues of S1000D within the same publication, which protects investment in S1000D from costly upgrades. Attendees are invited to interact with this out-of-the-box solution and ask questions on individual S1000D IETP publishing needs, such as CIR Applicability, 3D graphic support, hotlinking and real time filtering in both connected and non-connected network environments.
