The Universal MediaLibrary employs a media-centric file layout
that allows space efficiency for small files and high-streaming
performance for large media files. It performs dynamic online
expansion in less than 10 seconds, scaling both capacity (from
up to 216TB in a 5RU storage matrix to 144PB in a grid
architecture) and performance (up to 34,000Gbps in a grid)
simply by adding UML "bricks" to the grid. It has achieved the
fastest real-time throughput of 17Gbps per brick.
