Seagate Technology (NASDAQ: STX), a world leader in storage solutions, announced today that it is combining its Cloud Systems and Solutions group and Electronic Solutions group to further align the company’s full breadth of enterprise storage hardware capabilities.

“Over the last year we have acquired a unique set of capabilities in storage systems, high performance computing and flash memory PCIe to expand our market leading enterprise storage technology portfolio,” said Steve Luczo, Seagate’s chairman and chief executive officer. “We believe this is a valid and timely strategy as evidenced by the demand we are seeing across our OEM and Cloud customers for storage technology solutions that are highly tuned for next generation workloads and deliver new levels of performance, scale, reliability, flexibility and reduced total cost of ownership.”

“By bringing together our cloud systems and solutions and electronic solutions organizations we will be able to better align our full breadth of hardware expertise and enterprise storage capabilities,” continued Luczo. “We will provide our customers with solutions that offer an increasingly differentiated value proposition in the marketplace.”

Executive Vice President Phil Brace, who currently leads the Electronic Solutions Business Group, will leverage his deep background in storage hardware and solutions to lead the new combined organization as interim president, reporting to Luczo. Jamie Lerner, who has served as president of the Cloud Systems and Solutions Business Group, will be stepping down and transitioning over the next few months.

“I would like to thank Jamie for his outstanding efforts and many contributions in building the Cloud Systems and Solutions team and helping extend Seagate’s market reach,” concluded Luczo.
