Izhora Pipe Mill ('IPM'), a division of Severstal Russian Steel, have won the contract to deliver approximately 100 thousand tons of large diameter pipes to PAO Gazprom ('Gazprom') for its project - Siberian Force.

The mill will produce steel pipes of 1420 mm diameter with strength class K60 and with internal and external anticorrosion polyethylene coating designed to work with a pressure of 9.8 MPa.

Due to Severstal's vertically integrated system the order can be fully completed internally, from the extraction of raw materials; to the steel rolling process at the slitting lines shop in Colpino; and finally to the production at Izhora Pipe Mill. This enables Severstal to monitor and control all stages of production.

Dmitry Pokrovsky, Chief Executive Officer of Izhora Pipe Mill, said: 'Siberian Force is one of the Izhora Pipe Mill's major projects for which it supplies pipes. Since 2014, the Mill has delivered more than 250 thousand tons of products. For this project, the customer has specific requirements for the pipes because the pipeline runs under extreme climatic conditions. The Mill provides a very high quality standard of products and is always looking for ways to improve its products' properties'.
