SGS, a leading life sciences, pharmaceutical, clinical and bioanalytical contract solutions provider, today announced the appointment of Dr. Peter Hendrickx as Medical Director at the Clinical Pharmacology Unit (CPU) located within the Antwerp ZNA Stuivenberg hospital. He joins the existing medical team which currently comprises10 full time medical doctors.

Dr. Hendrickx, MD, graduated in 1996 from the University of Brussels and obtained an Informatics and Technology degree while serving as a Military Physician. After running his own consultancy company, he joined UCB (2010) as Global Medical Education Manager for movement and sleep disorders, then Bayer HealthCare (2012) as Medical Director for Belgium and Luxembourg, where he headed the Medical Department. Since 2015, he acted as Pharmacovigilance Regional Head for Europe and Canada at Bayer Pharma AG.

In his position at the CPU, he will be responsible for all SGS Early Phase Site medical activities and processes, including CPU and SGS Patient Sites in Belgium and Hungary, working closely with the existing SGS investigator physician and clinical pharmacology expert team.

'Peter's expertise and experience will support the growing SGS early phase clinical trials and bring quality medical and pharmacology input in the protocol preparation phase. Peter will also facilitate the SGS phase I patient's clinical pharmacology units' network harmonization and expansion,' commented Annick van Riel, CPU Director at SGS Clinical Research.
