Turkey published a new Regulation on Detergents (Issue: 30314) on January 27, 2018 by the Ministry of Customs and Trade.

Turkey's Ministry of Customs and Trade published a new Regulation on Detergents (Issue: 30314) on January 27, 2018.

This new regulation, as mentioned in article 18(1), has been prepared in accordance with the legislation of the European Union, taking into consideration Council Regulation (EC) No 648/2004 of March 31, 2004 on Detergents.

The following requirements have been amended in the new Regulation to the supply of detergents and surfactants used in detergents to the market:

  1. Rules on the biodegradability of surfactants in detergent

  2. Restrictions or prohibitions on surface active substance in terms of biodegradability

  3. Additional information on detergent labeling

  4. Information that the manufacturers should submit to the Ministry and health personnel

  5. Restrictions on the use of phosphate and other phosphorus compounds in consumer laundry detergents, and consumer automatic dishwashing detergents

The Regulation will become effective on July 27, 2018 for most types of detergents. However, detergents containing phosphate and liquid detergent contained in a soluble package, shall fulfill the new requirement from January 27, 2019.
