SGS has been granted UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Services) accreditation against ISO 14065:2013 to offer the full scope of EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) services internationally.

This enables us to carry out assessments of monitoring plans and verify carbon dioxide emissions from maritime transport in line with EU Regulation 757/2015.

This regulation requires ship owners and ship operators to submit ship specific monitoring plans to accredited verifiers by August 31, 2017 and to obtain a Document of Compliance for each vessel by December 31, 2017. The per voyage monitoring period starts on January 1, 2018 with the first verified annual emission reports due to be submitted to the competent authority by April 30, 2019.

SGS is a longstanding accredited verifier of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for both mandatory and voluntary schemes. We are proud to add MRV compliance and verification services to our portfolio of solutions for the maritime industry. They complement our already vast array of field, laboratory and consulting services for the sector.
