SGS today announced that it has joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a non-profit-organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing, and to provide education on the uses of Cloud Computing to help secure all other forms of computing. CSA is led by a broad coalition of industry practitioners, corporations, associations and other key stakeholders.

SGS has been accredited as CSA Certification Body to conduct CSA Security, Trust and Assurance Registry (STAR) certification assessments worldwide, with effective June, 2014.

CSA STAR certification evaluates the efficiency of an organization's Information Security Management System (ISMS) for cloud services and ensures the scope, processes and objectives are "Fit for Purpose" and helps organizations prioritize areas for improvement, long-term sustainability, mitigate risks, and lead them towards business excellence.

CSA STAR certification assessment is based on the technology-neutral certification leverages the requirements of the ISO/IEC 27001 management system standard. SGS deploys the specified set of criteria outlined in the CSA Cloud Control Matrix (CCM) framework to provide organizations with the needed structure, detail and greater clarity relating to information security tailored to cloud computing.

At present, SGS has a pool of qualified and well-experienced ISO 27001 lead auditors who have successfully completed the required CSA STAR Certification Auditor Training and qualify to perform the audit services for delivering CSA STAR certification.
