SGS Societe Generale de Surveillance : Awards Capita Joint Certification in Recognition of Quality Management and Information Security

Capita Healthcare Decisions has been awarded two international standards following an assessment of the company's quality and information security management system.
ISO 27001:2013 The Information Security Management System ensures that adequate controls are in place to address confidentiality, integrity and availability of information.
ISO 9001 Quality Management System is a standard for quality management and provides an organization with measurable improvements in their overall business performance.
ISO certifications are usually awarded to organizations separately, but Capita has received a joint certification covering both ISO 27001 and ISO 9001. The joint certification means that Capita will have integrated bi-annual audits, reducing costs in managing the standards by around a third.
The joint certification is the first of its type to be awarded by SGS, the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
Christine Evans, quality coordinator at Capita Healthcare Decisions, said: "These globally recognized standards are testament to the quality of our work and the integrity of our security controls. They give our clients and potential customers - both in the UK and internationally - the confidence that we can be trusted with their data, especially when handling and managing sensitive patient information."
Doreen Haddow, SGS Auditor said: "Since Capita took over Clinical Solutions, on-going changes have been seen throughout information security and the management system ISO 27001:2005. This resulted in the organization seeking certification to the new standard ISO 27001:2013 at their renewal audit in May and being recommended by the lead auditor. The business has also combined the ISO 9001:2008 management system with the ISO 27001:2013, which is a positive change."
