The average sedentary worker takes 3,000 steps a day. The Global Corporate Challenge, a movement of almost 300,000 participants from 185 countries, encourages employees to become healthier by increasing this amount to at least 10,000 steps a day over 100 days and establish sustainable healthy habits.

This year, 2,583 SGS employees took part. Working together in teams of seven, with commitment and camaraderie, they encouraged one another toward their goal. Their progress was tracked on a virtual journey around the world: GCC's online adventure, which helps participants monitor their physical activity while unlocking new locations as they trek around the globe, and provides personalised advice to improve wellbeing.

By the end of the challenge, employees at SGS had lost weight, reduced their stress levels, increased their energy levels and begun to think of exercise as fun.
