SGS has opened a new agricultural laboratory in Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia. The laboratory is approved by MPOB (Malaysia Palm Oil Board) to perform refined palm oil and crude palm oil testing according to the PORAM specification.

Sarawak is major player in the global palm oil industry, with more than 0.95 million hectares planted producing 1.5 million tonnes annually. SGS's new laboratory is the first independent laboratory in Bintulu to perform palm oil testing. It is located within 30 km radius of four palm oil refineries and the Tanjung Kidurong port area, which enables SGS to provide quick turnaround of result and allows clients to make timely and effective commercial decisions.

Apart from the Bintulu laboratory, SGS also has agricultural laboratories in Pasir Gudang, Port Klang, Kuala Lumpur and Lahat Datu which have served the palm oil industry in Malaysia for more than 30 years. In addition to PORAM testing, our laboratories have the capability to test and analyse for the following:

  • Pesticide residues
  • Heavy metals
  • GMO
  • Antioxidants
  • Others
