SGS SA has been named Sector Leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World and Europe. Based on the 2013 assessment, the Group received a score of 73/100 compared with an average score of 46/100 in the sector of commercial and professional services companies evaluated by RobeccoSAM, an investment specialist focused exclusively on sustainable investing.

Inclusion in the DJSI World and Europe Indices, which form part of the prestigious group of sustainability-focused equity indices, is limited to companies across all industries that outperform their peers in numerous sustainability metrics. The annual review involves a thorough analysis of management practices and performance measures linked to corporate governance, risk management, climate strategy, environmental policy and management, supply chain standards and labour practices.

Chris Kirk, CEO of SGS, commented, "It is a great honour for SGS to achieve Sector Leadership in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices. This achievement recognises our long-term commitment to sustainability and demonstrates how sustainability has become an integral part of our business activities and our company culture. As providers of specialised services, our business success is dependent on our ability to attract, develop and retain talent while safeguarding our reputation for integrity and high ethical standards. That is why we have dedicated more than half a decade to embedding sustainability principles across our global business. We are committed to using our scale and our expertise to deliver innovative solutions that help our customers and SGS to succeed in a changing world while contributing to a sustainable economy."

The Group's position in the DJSI recognises outstanding performance across a range of sustainability criteria: professional excellence (namely the SGS Code of Integrity and its management of compliance, bribery and corruption); human capital development (including the SGS Academy); labour practices and human rights management, and environmental reporting.
