NORTH AMERICA APPOINTS NEW GLP SPECIALIST

To meet growing demand for field trials and the increasing complexity of trial programmes, SGS North America has appointed an additional GLP Technical & Development Manager, based in South Dakota. This new role will co-ordinate all GLP laboratory studies, the performance and development of pesticide residue methods, and lead our GLP study director group.

Our well-established GLP field trial operations already provide the country's largest network of field stations. SGS has been providing GLP residue services in North America since 2008 and completed a successful EPA inspection in 2013, including residue laboratory, ELISA methods, seed treatment and seed treatment analysis laboratories.

POLAND EXPANDS FIELD TRIALS NETWORK

SGS has expanded its field trial capabilities in Poland, adding three new field trial stations to its network, in Zamarte, Cebulki, and Swiecice. Launched in time for the new season, these additional locations enable us to offer GLP and GEP field trials across a range of climates and geographical regions.

Following bans on specific neonicotinoid based products, Poland is struggling to find effective solutions for oilseed. We are working with the seed and pesticide industries, at farm level and with the oilseed associations to find a solution. We offer new product research and development in oilseeds, including field trials with treated seeds, spray treatment and quality control of yield and composition, as well as pesticide residue analysis.

DENMARK ACHIEVES GEP AND GLP ACCREDITATION

In Denmark, SGS has been accredited by the country's Environmental Protection Agency to conduct Good Experimental Practice (GEP) trials, also known as good efficacy trials, for six years. This success follows inspection of our new field operations by Aarhus University in May 2014.

At the same time, our field station in Grasten, Denmark, has been audited by DANAK, the country's national accreditation body, and achieved GLP accreditation to conduct residue trials. Established in Spring 2014, this facility extends our good efficacy field and GLP trials services to the Northern EPPO climate zone.
