SGS has signed a 10-month contract with the government of the Republic of Congo to develop a national Timber Legality and Traceability Monitoring System.

With an expected value of CHF 1.8 million, the project will be funded by the EU as part of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) concluded between Europe and Congo.

With SGS's help, the government of the Republic of Congo will reinforce its administrative and technical capabilities to better ensure legal and sustainable use of the country's forests. The contract will start on 1 July 2015.
