SGS has been awarded a six-month contract from Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz LTDA to provide electrical assembly assistance services on the NS Arpoador drill ship.

The NS Arpoador measures 203 meters in length and 40 meters in width, accommodating a crew of up to 180 people. It has large load capacity, advanced equipment and a large moon pool in the center. The drill ship will be able to operate in deep waters in the pre-salt layer located in the Santos Basin, São Paulo, operating at up to 3,048 meters deep and drill wells up to 12,200 kilometers long.

SGS was selected due to its proven track record and assembly experience in the oil and gas industry, as well as its strategic proximity to the shipyard, where the services will take place. In addition, the sales team's efforts helped to maintain a solid relationship and build mutual trust with the customer.

SGS has assembled a 237-strong team of specialists to perform installation of cabling, equipment, panels, fixtures, trays and electrical leads, Identification of cables and equipment, opening and closing of the Roxtec multi-cable transits (MCTs), binding, and end mooring. The project began on March 23, 2015 and will continue through to September 23, 2015.
